Abdullah partied hard at his first birthday bash!

With cake, candles and collective cheers, Abdullah from our Ulan Supported Independent Living (SIL) home felt the love from family, friends and staff at his very first birthday party.

This event was extra special to Abdullah as it was a goal he had wanted to tick off his bucket list for a long time. 

“Earlier this year, Abdullah came to us with the goal of having a birthday party. We wanted to make it special for him and the planning took about five months. We invited him to meetings so he could be involved in decision-making,” said Shared Living Manager, David O’brien.  

The party was hosted at Aruma’s Warilla Hub to accommodate the massive turnout. Approximately 70 people attended to show Abdullah how much he means to them. 

“There were around 40 family members, people from his local mosque, support staff from over the years, friends from day program and of course, an open invitation to the surrounding Aruma SIL homes. It was great to have everyone come together,” continued David. 

Regional Manager, Rebecca Curry, added, “Abdullah was having his best night. He partied and danced all night long and it was a great time.” 

With karaoke, dancing and a delicious barbeque, the night was a success. We’re sure it is a special memory that Abdullah will look back on with a smile. 

“It was great to see Abdullah have so much fun. He loved the dancing and having all his favourite people around him,” said David.  

We’re excited to see what goal Abdullah will achieve next!
