A new program for parents of teens

This is a 6-week program for parents/carers of children and teenagers between 11-18 years of age, which will focus on the emotional connection between teenagers and their families.

About the program

Tuning in to teens is an evidence-based adaptation of the Tuning in to kids parenting program.

Gain confidence in competence in dealing with teenage emotions. The tuning in to teens program aims to equip parents and carers with emotional coaching skills with a specific focus on the developmental needs of teenagers.

The program emphasises acceptance, empathy and understanding of a teen’s emotional experiences, whilst helping parents and carers to manage their own responses.

Tuning in to teens will be facilitated by a clinician with lived experience of raising two autistic children offering a different lens to other parenting programs.

Types of parents the program has supported

• Parents of autistic children
• Parents of both autistic and neurotypical children
• Parents who are not currently seeing their child/ren and are going through the family law court system
• Parents who have shared custody of their children

6 week program on Thursdays: 10/10, 17/10, 24/10, 31/10, 7/11 and 21/11
Via telehealth 12.30 – 2.30pm

• Minimum participant numbers are required for the programs to proceed and the program dates are subject to change
• Program is offered through telehealth to support busy schedules
• The total cost of this program is $468.48
• The program is also available individually for families for $1,873.92
• If you child has an NDIS plan, the cost can be funded here. Please note: we follow the NDIS cancellation guidelines: if you do not provide 7 clear days’ notice before the commencement of your first session, your payment will not be refunded.
• The program can also be funded by paying out-of-pocket.
