Handwriting program that helps children master their lower and uppercase letters. This weekly program involves sensory-based learning, collaborative group work and fun games!
Time to make handwriting more fun? This program focusses on shifting mindsets and getting kids excited about writing through sensory-based activities and interactive group games.
Each session is led by a team of allied health professionals, including occupational therapists (OT) and assistants so they’ll be in the best of hands.
Plus every child will also receive a handwriting master certificate at the end!
Our handwriting groups are based on the Learning without Tears Program, which is an evidence-based intervention.
Stage one equips children with foundational skills for writing upper-case letters. Children will learn how to turn “big lines, little lines, big curves and little curves” into letters. We will also run through the correct starting points of capital letters using letter families.
In stage two we will focus on lower-case letters and the correct placement of letters on dotted thirds. We will aim to support your child in learning the correct formation of letters, how to hold a writing utensil, and use of assisting hand and posture.
The group is run by two of our occupational therapists and will meet weekly during Term 3 and 4 of 2024.
Skill-building: this program helps also helps children develop their fine motor, coordination and social skills.
Please note, there is no age limit to the group and older children that need handwriting support are welcome to attend too!
