Storytelling social program

A fortnightly program to help kids learn more about themselves and their everyday world through storytelling.

Why storytelling?

Stories provide frameworks for how we assess and understand the world – they allow us to experience values, cultures, moral decisions and more! On an individual level, they guide us to evaluate and determine who we want to be and what is ‘meaningful’.

Let’s check out The Lion King as an example!

This children’s (and adults) Disney favourite – explores themes of love, power, kindness, and respect. Most children, consciously or unconsciously, consider the jungle to be dangerous, and they don’t agree with many of Scar’s choices. They would much prefer supportive friends like Timon and Pumbaa.

Can you see how our sense of self, desires, and view of the world is influenced by stories? Our team cannot wait to unpack and nurture the unique way each little one interprets the stories we read and engages with discussions and activities such as role-plays and additional storyline write-ups.

So, how will the program be Neuroaffirming?

  • We’ve picked stories and formulated activities that cater to visual, audible, and sensory-orientated learners.
  • We understand sensory preferences. While a child engages with a story, they can sit near a table, lay on a beanbag, take notes, colour, draw, play with a fidget toy or create a mind map.
  • Respect how children share their views, such as verbally, through a drawing or a recording.
  • Most of all, we encourage everyone to be authentic.
