Human rights are for all humans. They are universal.

What is the Human Rights Advisory Committee?

We believe in inclusive societies and communities where people with disability have the same opportunities as other citizens to live well and contribute.

The Human Rights Advisory Committee was first established in 2009 and was originally known as the Customer Outcomes and Standards Committee. In 2014, the name changed to the Human Rights Committee to truly knit human rights principles into everything we do.

The Human Rights Advisory Committee is managed by the Chief Customer Officer, and the committee includes our Human Rights Advisors and Ambassadors, as well as participants, supported employees, family members and staff who are not afraid to tackle the big issues and speak up. They meet every three months to look for ways to improve our organisation and shape our policies that affect human rights with Board directors attending.

The team don’t just look internally though, another big part of what they do is contributing to the broader sector to influence change and to advocate on topical issues affecting people with a disability. They also design and implement our annual Human Rights Conference and meet with the full Board twice a year.
